Biography:

Born on July 4, 1913, in Carrollton, Georgia, Lt. (jg) Lewis Sims, Jr., MD, USN, served the United States Antarctic Service as the physician at East Base.  Sims remained in the Navy after his return to the United States, was assigned to various duty stations, including NAS Saufley Field (Pensacola) in the early 1950’s.   Sims died in San Diego in 1972.
